‘WAH TAJ’ IN THAI STYLE!

Boliye, “Waah Taj”, but in Thai Style!!

Umami at Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati brings to you a slice of Thailand on their platter. Yes, the Thai Food Festival 2020 is here in Guwahati making all the way from Thai Pavilion, President, Mumbai.

The Thai food festival is showcasing a wide range of Thai cuisines prepared exclusively by highly skilled chef in the house Dharmesh. The food served here ranges from vegetarian to non-vegetarian, spicy and tangy to sweet, from your favorite noodles/rice to relishable curries.

So, get the feel of Thai cuisine known for its exotic taste, fragrance and flavours with their menu featuring dishes like Raw Papaya Salad, Spicy Soup flavoured with Lemon Grass, Thai Spring Roll Prawns, Fish Cake with Red Curry Paste, Crispy Lamb in Bell Peppers, Prawn Tempura, Red/Green Thai Chicken/Prawn Curry with flavoured rice, Sliced Pork with Chilli Garlic & Holy Basil, Coriander Chicken, Sliced Lamb flavoured with sesame and Rice Wine Sauce, Pumpkin Custard and many more…

Thai food has emerged as a truly global cuisine, loved by people across the world, and is one of the most prominent Asian cuisines. The flavours of Thai cuisine combine three out of the four basic tastes – sweet, sour and salty – and are pretty popular among Asian food lovers in India as well.

The Thai food menu is available at Umami (Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati) at only dinner time and is a one-of-a-kind four course meal, with delectable delights. So, without wasting any time, I headed straight to Umami to satiate my taste buds with a few Thai delicacies.

I started with the famous Thai Papaya Salad and some Watermelons. To my amaze, both the salads were completely different with a pinch of Thai-ness mixed to it.

Next on the table were the starters – Crispy Lamb stirred with Bell Peppers, Fish Cake with Red Curry Paste, Prawns with Chilli Garlic & Holy Basil and Coriander Chicken. The taste cannot be expressed in words and let my pictures do the talking!

After satisfying my hunger with the starters, I was introduced to the main course. It was really a gastronomical delight for me as the Green Thai Chicken Curry was placed on my table; it’s my all-time favourite. The rich aroma of lemon grass tossed with coconut milk and fresh green chillies is enough to tantalize your taste buds. Oh yeah, I also tasted the Thai Fried Rice mixed with Egg, Chicken and Prawns.

Last but not the least, the dessert was served and let me tell you, this was the first time I have tasted a Thai dessert.  It was ‘Tub Trim Grob’. Okay, let me clear the jargon. This Thai dessert is basically diced water chestnut with pure coconut milk. Easy, isn’t it?

Apart from the main Thai cuisine, I also tasted a Japanese delicacy Sushi. Sushi is a Japanese dish of prepared vinegared rice, usually with some sugar and salt, accompanying a variety of ingredients, such as seafood, vegetables, and occasionally tropical fruits. Styles of sushi and its presentation vary widely, but the one key ingredient is "sushi rice", also referred to as shari, or sumeshi.

It was a great dining experience at the Thai Food Festival at Umami. So, don’t miss the chance to savour the aromatic flavours curated by Chef Dharmesh and his team exclusively at Umami, Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati.
