YOKO SIZZLERS – SIZZLE UP YOUR MEAL
As a child, I was extremely
scared of sizzlers. The spitting and the steam that engulfed us as soon as the
dish arrived at the table did not amuse me; food is supposed to be quiet,
simple and not resemble a wild animal. However, as I grew older I came to
understand the beauty of a sizzler. A dish with a mind of its own that captures
all your senses, the steam that rises from the dish and its tantalizing smell
is the gateway that prepares you for the delicious food that lies beyond.
To explore the mystery of the
perfect sizzler, I visited the newly opened restaurant chain in Guwahati – Yoko
Sizzlers. Wooden-finish ambiance, show-stopper lights and then there is the
occasional steam and hiss as the staff brings out a sizzling hot platter. The whiffs
of the aroma itself make you crave to hog on to some of their signature dishes.
Having been around for over 30 years,
Yoko Sizzlers has acquired a legendary status among Mumbaites. With over 40
different kinds of sizzlers from across the country, the option to try out the best
was a challenge for me. Wasting no time, I called on the chef, who helped me
trying out a few of their signature dishes. In no time, I got to know why YOKO
serves the best sizzlers. The blend of rice, meat and the veggies gave me the
gastronomical delight.
Expressing her joy on the launch, franchisee owner Neena Brahma said, "We are extremely glad to bring Yoko Sizzlers to Guwahati, and to the people of Northeast. For the first time northeast will experience 44 varieties of sizzlers. We have 11 vegetarian, 15 chicken, 6 mutton and 12 sea-food sizzlers. Over years Guwahati has been exposed to many adaptations of popular cuisine, but with Yoko, citizens can expect authentic sizzlers the way they should be enjoyed."

ALL ABOUT SIZZLERS – THE ORIGIN
Sizzler is an Indian version of
steak (meat) with salad served sizzling on the hot stone dish. The origin of
the sizzler probably goes back the teppanyaki-sizzled dishes of Japan. From
there it moved to the US after World War II, and became popular in the 1950s.
Sizzler steaks are generally prepared using high-heat to sear the outside and
leaving the inside moist. Once plated, the steak lets off a dramatic hiss of
steam, which is its great appeal. The sizzler’s Indian history, however, began
in Bombay in 1963.
